Breastfeeding Support and Well Infant Visits

Update January 2025. Dr. Wickens is available to provide breastfeeding support without referral at West Saanich Medical Clinic. There is no cost to patients with BC  MSP and no restriction on the age of the baby.   Space is held for Breastfeeding Medicine patients every Monday so most patients can be seen within the week. The clinic teaches UBC medical students so you may be asked to include a medical student in your visit. We also offer well baby visits or check ups for infants and toddlers who don't have family physician.

How, When, Where?

To book a visit, please use the Walk-in-Clinic booking form on the West Saanich  Medical Clinic Website  https://westsaanichmedical.com/walk-in-clinic

or the email below to  book an appointment for yourself and your infant with Dr. Jennifer Wickens.  Please clearly state breastfeeding support in the reason for visit. You may also book appointments with our clinic RN who is a certified breastfeeding counsellor and able to provide information on many aspects of infant health and refer you on to a clinic doctor when necessary.

Visit Tips

  • Please bring 2 clean disposable diapers and a light blanket to cover the baby.
  • Take a few moments to write down your concerns and questions before the visit.
  • Please have the names and doses of any medications or creams you are using available as well as baby's birth and most recent weights.
  • Make sure to have your baby with you. It is ideal if they are a bit hungry so feeding can be observed.
  • If you are using a bottle, nipple shield or other feeding aid please have that available too.
